#reverb10 7: Community

Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?

I have too many. I wish I could connect more deeply with some of these communities, but… I can’t. I just don’t have time. But what the heck. Let’s list them.

Current

• Facebook – Some people may scoff, but it is. It is not an announcement board of all the achievements you’ve unlocked in Farmville. I turn those off.
• Twitter – I use it for chatting. I don’t follow many celebrities. I don’t follow news. I just follow people. Those people talk about useless things, just like me… I mean, I talk about useless things too! Not… that the useless things ARE me.
• NaNoWriMo – Heck, there are many communities inside of Nano. It’s not just one.
• FAWM.org – I owe so many people song collabs
• Church – We play boardgames together, hang out for dinner, and my band is made up of them.
• Kids School – I would like to get more involved in this one

New This Year!

• Filk – Science Fiction and Fantasy Folk Music
• Boardgaming – From Snakes & Lattes, My own Fun group, and two other gaming groups I would love to get out to more
• Second Life – Debbie Ohi dragged me there. 😀
• Storypraxis and 10 Novels. 10 Years. – Yet more writing communities!
• Daily Mile – I like to run now with my wife
• Painting – Wife and I started a course and wish to get more involved in that.
• Knitting – Ok, I’m kidding about this one.
• Debbie Ohi – Community all to herself.
• #reverb10 – you guys started all these prompts.

Communities I Haven’t been to in years

• BricksInMotion and Brickfilms – I’ve really only done two lego animations to my name
• Blizzard Fan Fiction – I heard they finally closed the doors
• Whole wack of online music, stop motion and such communities – sad state of affairs

Oh yea, I hang out with my fam once in a while.
