#reverb10 4: Wonder

How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year?

Don’t take things for granted. Be thankful.

Pithy? Yes. But it’s that simple.

“But Errol,” you may start, “I don’t have a hot wife like you do!”

True, but I had a sense of wonder before I met her. There is a quote. A quote by Buddha, or somebody. And it was about happiness, destinations, and journeys. I forget the quote, but it was apt. You should find it on the internets.

“Why won’t you tell me the quote?”

Look, if you are trying to find the key to happiness through a simple quote and you can’t take the time to find it yourself, then maybe it’s you.

“That’s harsh, Errol. I have problems.”

Yes, you probably do. I know many people who have awful, severe problems. I also know many people who complain about the most trivial and mundane things.

Attitude helps.

Remember that video Everything’s Amazing and Nobody’s Happy:

I like the line, “How quickly the world owes him something he knew existed only 10 seconds ago.” 😀

There is a neat article I read: Be Lucky – It’s an Easy Skill to Learn. From there, it has the line: “Lucky people tend to see the positive side of their ill fortune.”

This is also echoed in Ken’s Robinson’s book, “The Element“. You can find that part in Chapter 7.

This, of course, is not to be confused with the game Elements, free online MtG flash game. Whack of fun.

“Errol, we were talking about ‘wonder’, and then you go on this rant about ‘happiness’.”

I get sidetracked rather easily. Look, if you go through life expecting to be owed everything, nothing will hold its wonder.

Look at me. I’m happy! Of course, I do have a hot wife…
