My girl

Hey beauty.  You are such a girlie.  Your obsession with being girlie hasn't slowed down.  You have a beautiful pair of black dress boots that you have to wear everywhere.  I think you wore a skirt to school about four days out of five this week to show off your boots!

But you aren't all shallow.  A couple of weeks ago we were coming home from somewhere and I saw my friend Darcy sitting panhandling.  You were intrigued and started asking more questions.  Darcy was in a sleeping bag on the Danforth, and had her dog with her.  You wanted to know why she was sitting in a sleeping bag.  I said it is because the cement gets really cold so that would help her stay warm.  You wanted to know if she slept outside too.  I said yes.  You were very concerned and mentioned that the house across the street from us is for sale.  I agreed but said that it cost too much money for Darcy to buy it.  You were silent for about 30 seconds and then insisted that I couldn't stop you from giving Darcy all the money in your angel bank so that she wouldn't have to sleep outside anymore!  You are so precious my girl.

Yesterday when we were walking to school you got talking about people living outside again.  You were very perturbed about people sleeping out when it is so cold.  I told you that that is why mommy had to work all night the night before so we could keep my workplace open for people to come in and sleep.  You said "we have to do more".  Your kindness and sense of social justice is beautiful to see.  I hope you never loose it!

I need to finish the laundry but I wanted to write this down before I forget it. – Love you lots.  – Mommy
