“I just drink decaf”

Hey my beauty.  I am going to try to write a quick note while you are still sleeping.  I love you so much my little big girl.  You like to tell me how big you are whenever we get into the car because you seem to think that one of these days I will let you drive the car.  Your optimism is good but not particularily realistic.

Life these days seems to be quite interesting.  Last week Mommy had to go to the lab and get blood work done.  I had to get one blood draw and then drink some stuff.  Then an hour later a second blood draw, and then another hour later the third draw.  I was sorry for you having to sit in the lab with me all that time.  This didn’t seem to bother you much.  You in fact were quite fascinated by the whole procedure.  In fact, you stole a tourniquet from one of the lab rooms so you could practice yourself.  Everybody that came into the lab waiting room, you asked if they had blood in their arms.  You are actually quite good at all the steps of doing a blood draw.  In fact, yesterday you were able to tell us that one needs to take the vial off the needle before undoing the tourniquet.  Pretty impressive.  Thea asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up – and you told her a lab tech.  By later in the evening though you told Auntie Becky that you were going to be a doctor.

At staff meeting yesterday, Greg was praying for us.  He was praying for Daddy and Mommy, and you were playing around not paying much attention.  When he said “Errol” you stopped playing and said “Errol is my Daddy.  Greg said Errol.”  Then when Greg said “Keren”, you got very excited and said “mommy that is you.  Greg said your name.”  When Thea was praying and said your name you got so excited.  “Thea is talking about me!  I’m Ekko everybody!”  It was cute.

Tim Horton’s has a billboard poster in the subway station advertising their send a kid to camp program.  The picture has a coffee cup upside down and cut to look like a tent.  I didn’t know if you would recognize it but bless your coffee loving heart.  As soon as you saw it yesterday you shouted with glee – “Mommy, look it’s a coffee cup!”  You like coffee way too much for a two year old.  Last night you told Auntie Becky that you have to drink decaf.  Remember that my girl!

Oh, ya I remember.  And at staff meeting yesterday another thing that was funny was with food.  I had brought shaved ham, goldfish crackers, yogurt drink and strawberries for you to eat.  I figured that would keep you quite busy.  You were mowing through the ham and decided you needed to share some with Uncle Paul.  Then you thought about sharing it with Thea too until she said no thank you.  You looked serious for a minute and then said “Thea only likes tofu”.  When you were drinking your yogurt drink, you thought again about offering it to Thea but decided not too.  You told me “Thea just likes water”.

I guess that’s enough stuff for now.  Remember to just drink decaf my beauty.  No coffee for you.  And no driving for you.  Don’t rush growing up too fast.

I love you Ekko Elumir.  – Mommy
