#reverb10 9 – Party

Party. What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.

Aw man… I did that already! I had posts on going to Filk, going to Snakes and Lattes, and the Nanowrimo All nighter. I have pics of FAWM parties, boardgame parties, all sorts of parties at my house.

This reminds me of a story of my wife. Don’t worry, it’s not a naked story.

My wife was out with the kids. I don’t recall what she was doing, it’s harder to pick up men when towing the kids so I don’t think she was doing that. Although they just naturally seem to fall into her lap. Anyway, I digress. She was out with the kids, and she ran into another mother that she knew.

The mother asked, “Are you their nanny?”

“No, their mine,” replies Keren.

“Oh! How wonderful that you adopted!”

“I didn’t adopt, they were forcibly removed from my body, thank you very much!” [Ed. Note: I can’t imagine Keren saying this, but hey, it works.]

“Really? Chinese?” asked the curious mother.

“No, my husband’s Filipino,” replied my wife.

“NOOOOO!” says the woman. I imagine it to sound a bit like this.

“Yes…”

“No! I can imagine Chinese, or Japanese, but not Filipino! A white guy marrying a filipino girl, yes. Happens all the time. But a Filipino guy? They don’t do anything at home! They expect the woman to do everything! Furthermore, they want to have everyone over at their house every weekend! No way a white woman would stand for that!” explained the lady.

“Oh, you mean it’s not just him?” asked Keren.

I don’t know why I get out of bed some days… well… there is oatmeal. I do like Red River Cereal.
