5 Germany – Neuschwanstein Schloß
By the way, if anyone cares to know, I’m on Thebes computer. Hogging the internets and changing the keyboard to German so that I can put in the cool characters, like that ‘ß’ character. It sounds like an ‘s’.
Now, if you think that’s unfair that I am on her computer all the time (which I’m not, I’m getting woefully behind on my social networking), she’s been on my DS playing Phoenix Wright. So it’s all even.
Speaking of getting behind on email and such, there’s been on influx of spam! In my gmail, in one day, I got five spam that leaked through to my inbox. That’s awful. I don’t get any spam but now five? Ugh, it’s a sad state of affairs. And there was a spammer on Creative Geeks too. I had to block him.
Oh! I forgot to mention that when we went to the Abt store, I also bought a European DS Charger! Huzzah! Thea found it for me when I was looking at boardgames and I was a happy guy. Without internets and the DS, it was getting kinda desperate for me…
We woke up late again, on Thursday. We also ran out of cream. So that meant I could only have Bailey’s in my coffee. How wonderful is that? And I had eggs. That was great! They don’t normally eat toast, and it’s mostly yogurt and breads and such. If anything, I’m eating quite healthy on this vacation. Eggs and Bailey’s. Mmmmm.
Anyway, Thursday was a holiday for Germans, (they have holidays all the time, it seems) so no stores were open. Thus, we went to Bavaria (a state within Germany) to visit another castle: Neuschwanstein Schloß. Apparently, this is the castle that Disney’s Sleeping Beauty’s castle was modeled after.
This castle was on top of a hill and involved a lot of walking. It seems most castles involve a lot of walking. The girls usually want to be carried and I had Zoe and I sure didn’t want to carry her uphill for fifteen minutes while trying to avoid horse manure. So we made it a race and she practically ran up the hill. As a reward, Thebes bought her some gummy bears.
We had an hour to wait before our tour started, so we just hung out in the courtyard.
Then we went inside the castle. It was cool. We weren’t allowed to take pictures, not that that stopped the tourists. I would describe it, but you could probably find better descriptions, with pictures, elsewhere. So I’ll mention that we had some bratwurst and fries, just in case all you thought we did was eat at ethnic restaurants.
We took two cars to get to the castle, and Sara had the faster car. So she just zipped back home going about 160 km/h while we were stuck at around 140 km/h.
Did I mention they don’t normally serve water at restaurants and stuff? You have to order it, and although we are quite fond of the ‘spicy’ water (as Ekko calls it), Zoe isn’t. So we have to make sure we are well hydrated.
That night, Dove made some dinkel spaghetti. It even tasted normal. That’s cool. I like that. ‘Dinkel’. What a great word.
After we put the kids to bed, we usually spend the rest of the night drinking wine. This night, we had Baileys and ice cream. We wake up and have Baileys, and then go to bed with Baileys. Doesn’t get any better than that. Huzzah!
