Animation a Week and Music Writing again
I’m quite excited about this latest video of mine because it melded a few of my hobbies together, stop frame animation and music writing.
I needed to get it done though. I found myself CONSTANTLY thinking about this music video. I was distracted from life, my night thoughts had me storyboarding how the video should go, I just found I couldn’t concentrate on anything else. That’s why my social network updating has been lax as of late.
It took so LONG. I think it was almost 18 hours of just animating alone. Spent a lot of late nights until 1am just animating each character. If you notice, they loop, but it was hard to get them back into the same exact position from whence they started. So I find the drummer is the choppiest of all.
His drinking problem became a revelation only after I started animating him and decided that he should be a pirate. We’ll name him Andrew.
Actually, they are the members of my church band, Andrew Skivington is my drummer, Mark James, (who wrote the tune) is the guitarist, and Randy Hendriks is my bassist. If we’re lucky, we hope to do some gigging of our own songs sometime. Just for fun though. I don’t think people would pay to see me sing about how ugly I am.
Speaking of which, I was talking to my geek in the basement (my tenant) and I wanted him to video tape me for a music video of I love You but I’m Ugly. And I thought it could be one of those videos where I’m walking down the street with the camera focused on me and it would be all one take.
And then we thought it would be brilliant if as I was walking down the street all these girls would turn in absolute disgust as I passed them. That would mean I’d need a lot of girls to be in this video, but that would be hilarious. 😀
Anyway, tangentials aside, I am also working on Nelson’s Children’s Musical he’s doing for the Fringe festival. So I haven’t had much time to do any animating, and I don’t know if I’ll get one out before I leave for Germany! But here’s hoping. 😀
