Why My Daughter Deserves a Pony
There comes a time in a man’s life when he has realized that whatever goal he has unconsciously set out to complete has finally, unequivocally been accomplished.
That occurred a few days ago. Life has been busy. I’ve had a flurry of crazy jollity with FAWM, which I could blog about because it was so insanely fun, but this touched me deep.
As you may have been spammed to death about, I wrote a song called Geek Love Songs v1.1.
If you haven’t seen it, then you need to go watch it because you won’t really understand this next part. You see, my daughters love this song. I don’t know why they love it. They don’t understand 90% of the things in it, there are no princesses or pinkishness in it, but they love it.
So I was recording Ekko for a collaboration in FAWM, and she just needed to sing to a track. I didn’t need anything specific, she could just sing random stuff. So she did her normal ‘la la la la’, ‘Deck the halls’, ‘My name is Luca’ kinda singing, and then I suggested she should sing Geek Love Songs v1.1.
And she did. She did miss a verse, yes, but I was absolutely floored at how much she knew. I knew she went into my room, and played it on the ipod on repeat but I didn’t think she retained as much as she did. She hasn’t read the lyrics, she wouldn’t be able to even if she could, but she still was able to retain most of it.
So here it is, in all it’s glory:
Geek Love Song v1.1 – Ekko
I don’t think I’ve ever been prouder of Ekko in my whole life. Maybe I should buy her Disneyland.
(And Yes, Zoe knows the song as well but I couldn’t get her to record. She deserves a break. She works so hard. Poor girl.)
