It’s my Anniversary today, and I’m blogging.
Facebook and Twitter status: Errol is blogging on Valentine’s day, his anniversary. But only because his wife is downstairs learning to play the mandolin via Google. Honest. All true.
Well, on Twitter, I had to lose the “Honest. ” part because I was 8 letters over. I hate that. I really do.
A lot of stuff has been happening. Dove is happy because a lot of good stuff has occured with the stance she took against that abuse case. St. Michael’s Hospital has responded in a great way, and is looking to retrain their security guards, which Dove has wanted all along. Sanctuary is happy because at first, they were cynical. They were not expecting change, but a payoff of huge sums of money. And yes, huge sums of money is good if in my hands, but if it doesn’t change anything, what’s the point? Other than buying me cool toys. But, enough about that.
In less serious news, I rushed out two songs to put on FAWM before we went out to celebrate our anniversary. And then we went for Hakka, which is Dove’s new favourite place on the planet beside Dim Sum and waterfronts. And I gave her my CD! HUZZAH!
It’s been so hard to keep that thing secret. Wanting to tell her the nuances of little songs (yes, I DO put thought into the songs), wanting to show her the finished product, keeping her from reading my emails over my shoulder. But in the end, it was worth it. She even liked the CD and had the grace not to ask, “What else?” This is good.
And then, we had decided to buy a ukelele for Zoe because she loves to play on this old broken one with two strings. And ukelele’s aren’t that expensive. So we got her one. And I learned yet another thing new about my wife: she took mandolin lessons in Romania for about 8 months. Apparently, they had this mandolin orchestra in a church she was attending, and someone offered to teach her mandolin. So while we were at the music store, which Keren had recalled from Taste on the Danforth, we bought a mandolin. Yet another fun 10th anniversary celebration.
I love to celebrate! It’s fun! We only thought of the kids, once every two hours, and I only thought of the internets once every twenty minutes. So we’re doing pretty well. Jeff lent me some Penny Arcade anthologies, so I was able to quell my desires.
