An email from a friend at church about our girls

Hi Keren,

Gavin has started to sing a lot; starting very early in the morning (sigh) and ending very late at night. On Sunday night, it was the grace that the kids sing when they put their money into the little church on Sunday mornings. You know…

Long ago the Lord made us
And He’s loved us ever since.
Even though we stray
His love is here to stay
And so we give some back to him.

Well, for some reason I couldn’t understand, Gavin was singing it through, repeatedly ending it with the line:

“And Ekko gives some back to him.”

When I asked him why, he said:

“Ekko’s the big sister, and Zoey’s the little sister. Ekko needs to have a turn too.”

I was mystified. Then I went over the song in my head, line by line, and talked with him some more. Apparently, his understanding of the song had been:

“Even though we stray
His love is here to stay
And Zoey gives some back to him!”

So there you go, he’s keeping your big girl in mind, and she’s having a turn to give back too!
