goodness you are my big girl
Hey beauty. You are so good with your little sister. It is amazing to me to watch you two play. Now Zoe is getting big enough for you guys to play real games together and it is great. Zoe has started to sleep on the bottom bunk in your room and that's pretty exciting. The first night you two talked until 10:30 you were too excited to sleep. In the morning when I asked how you liked having Zoe in there, you sighed a deep sigh and said "now I'm not alone". Poor Ekko. It always bothered you that the three of us were in one room and you were alone.
Lots has been going on. You finished your first year of school and did well. A couple of things were funny near the end. Your teacher was asking what you were looking forward to the most with summer holidays. You answered "that I won't have to wear socks or leotards". That's my girl. Your class went off to Riverdale farm for a trip and each of you was asked what your favourite part was. You said "riding the bus".
During the first week of holidays you went to the zoo for an afternoon camp every day. I think that your favourite part was either patting the camel or patting the turtle. Actually, I think your favourite thing was singing the silly camp songs. You are so like daddy.
Your friendship with David continues. You had a great sarcastic moment a bit ago that made us proud. David came over to see you and, in your great excitement, you yelled something to David. Now David is a rather loud, rambunctious child and you are usually much quieter than he is. He looked at you in horror and told you that your yelling hurt his ears. You looked at me and said "because he never yells right mom?" It was great.
Daddy likes to harrass you. He offers you gifts of mushrooms and onions, which drives you nuts. But you are starting not to sound like Auntie Lizette everytime he bugs you now. Now you generally say something to me like "mom, is daddy telling the truth?" or "Daddy's not right is he?" Sadly, sometimes Daddy is telling the truth but his harrassment level has led you not to believe a word he says at times.
Our neighbours invited us up to their cottage for a birthday party. You were in bliss because you got to wear a life jacket most of the day. Duane let you "drive" the speed boat and when we got back to the dock, you stood there in a semi-trance saying "that was so fun, that was fun, that was so fun…"
Last week we made raspberry jam, with raspberries that you picked. What a hoot. Your raspberries were almost in jam condition when we got home. You mashed them up well and were so proud of your jam. I loved watching you have such fun.
Right now you are doing a day camp at our church for the week. So grown up. You came home today and spent an hour in the bathtub with Zoe, and I heard you teaching Zoe a song you learned at camp. It was great.
Gotta get off the computer so you can play a game. Take care my beautiful love. – Mommy
